virtual tour of irish environment
Form and Content
ie/irishenvironment is an electronic magazine, also called an e-zine (“e-zeen”) or simply a website, that serves as an online resource for environmental matters on the island of Ireland. Material for the magazine will come from sources in the Republic of Ireland (RoI), Northern Ireland (NI), the United Kingdom (UK) generally, the European Union (EU), and sometimes from member countries, and the United States (US).
News: links to news sources in RoI, NI, UK, EU, US and elsewhere. Published, or uploaded, to the website each Monday, Wednesday and Friday. During certain periods of the year, the uploading may be limited to once a week and readers will be alerted to changes in the schedule of uploading.
Articles: commentary on environmental issues with links to related materials. The articles will be published monthly, at the beginning of each month.
Reports: summaries of reports from agencies or organizations, with links to related materials. The reports will be published monthly, at the beginning of each month.
iePEDIA: a form of encyclopedia, or wikipedia, where environmental terms are defined or described and some suggestions are made, for teachers and students and others, on how to further explore or apply the issue, with resources, generally online, about the issue, concept or term. New items for iePEDIA will be added each month.
Podcasts: each month we will add new videotaped conversations on environmental issues with interesting, informative people.
You Tube: each month we will add several new videos from You Tube on environmental topics, selecting videos that inform or entertain or do both at the same time.
The Reports, Articles, and iePEDIA sections will include cross-references to other material on ie/irishenvironment or other websites that are related to the subject of the report, article or iePEDIA entry.
RSS
Readers can subscribe for free, by RSS (Really Simple Syndication), to receive a notice whenever new material is added to any section(s) other than News.
